AUBREY RACHEL VIOLET

(SHE/HER)

[will begin seeing clients in January]

Our modern systems thrive on disconnection and divisiveness. As a result, we are often dissociated from ourselves and our communities. It is my goal to help folks establish a connection to their fullest and most authentic selves, and acquire the necessary skills to build healthy, generative, and lasting relationships with others. My name is Aubrey (she/her), and I’m presently a Master’s student in Couple and Family Therapy and Sex Therapy at Antioch University here in Seattle. I am white, cis, queer, able-bodied. I am an artist and musician at heart, and endlessly curious about human stories.

I have an extensive professional background in the realms of film and television, education, journalism, and the erotic arts, as well as formal training in grief work, end of life care, and conflict mediation.

Having lived many lives and walked many paths, I feel I am able to hold a client’s present experience with grace, openness, and empathy. In my personal time, I love forest bathing, cycling, singing, playing the harp, and seeking out vintage art, clothing, and sparkly treasures.

I’m an existential therapist who incorporates elements of narrative, feminist, emotionally focused and Jungian therapy into my work. I also utilize somatics, polyvagal theory, and liberatory psychology. I offer pleasure-centered and affirming, sex-positive, anti-oppressive, anti-racist, and inclusive care, and I am trained to work with both individuals and family systems. This includes romantic partners, parents and children, and larger constellations of biological and/or chosen families and polycules. My approach is trauma-informed, culturally conscious, and compassionate.

I strongly believe that the path to empowered embodiment lies in facing and integrating the shadow self, or what we commonly recognize as the more challenging and/or shame-inducing aspects of self. Stories - those we’ve been told, those we tell ourselves, and the ones we keep coming back to - play a fundamental role in how we engage with the world around us. One of our human superpowers lies in our ability to determine which stories we wish to align with, and which ones we wish to rewrite, reimagine, and/or rediscover. Through this intentional work of examining our depths and meaning making, I believe it is possible to discover and experience liberation, connection, and joy.

I’d love to be your ally on your healing journey. I am extremely passionate about serving in a supportive role to help folks heal from sexual trauma and abuse, as well as destigmatizing sex work and sexual shame. I am also deeply interested in working with cis male individuals to unravel maladaptive behaviors and beliefs rooted in patriarchy. I warmly offer assistance navigating BDSM/kink, polyamory and non- monogamy, identity exploration, consent, attachment, anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, disordered eating, desire discrepancy, communication, and nervous system regulation.
